Test your digital skills and learn online

Northstar Digital Literacy Assessment
Northstar offers up to 14 certificates for you to list on your resume or digital profile. These certificates show your proficiency in using computers and software.
Stand out by showing employers you have the technology skills required for the job.
Practice the assessment here or contact us to schedule a proctored exam.
The Northstar Digital Literacy Assessments are between 20-45 interactive questions. You will perform common tasks like "move a file to the trash can" or "open a web browser."
What kind of questions are on the assessment?
You must score 85% or higher to earn a certificate for each assessment. If you score below an 85%, Northstar Digital Literacy provides online training modules to teach you the skills required to pass. Tech Access also provides appointments, drop-in sessions, and support to help you pass.
How do I pass?
To receive your certificate, you must schedule a proctored exam. Call 816.701.3606 or complete our contact form to schedule a proctor.
Proctors are available at any Kansas City Public Library location virtually or in-person.
